Artist's Description

This photograph was taken by my father, Darrel Keahey, back in the 50's. It is a photo taken at the Garber-Covington oil field which still exist today but doesn't look anything like in this old picture. The building in the background was called the pump house. It housed a huge motor. The motor pulled several of these cables that where attached to these shallow oil pumps to pull the pump up and down. My grandparents and dad lived on this farm; grandpa was hired by Sinclair Oil Company to maintain this pump house.

About Larry Keahey

Larry Keahey

My love for photography began when I was very young; as the photo shows me reaching for dad's new Leica camera. My 1st camera a Kodak, was given to me by my father back before grade school. The camera even had film in it. The only thing I remember about this camera was that you viewed through the top. Dad was a professional photographer most of his life. So you might say that I have inherited my father's eye to see the beauty of this world. I want to dedicate this page to my best friend, who is also my wonderful wife, Phyllis. She's been my camera crew for over 50 years and counting. Please enjoy the pictures and your comments are very welcome. Comments are how all of us on FAA know if what we offer as art is enjoyed by others. If you...
