Artist's Description
This was taken at West Port, Washington. Locals told us that there is a huge family of cats and raccoons that live in the rocks around the port and are friends with each other. They didn't seem to mind each other at all.
About Larry Keahey
My love for photography began when I was very young; as the photo shows me reaching for dad's new Leica camera. My 1st camera a Kodak, was given to me by my father back before grade school. The camera even had film in it. The only thing I remember about this camera was that you viewed through the top. Dad was a professional photographer most of his life. Fascinating shot, Larry! I love the look in the eyes of both, like what's up Doc? You do know what happened next, right? I would have loved to have been there!

Hi Larry, what a great capture! I don't know what the raccoon was up to, but the cat for sure was not ready for it.

Title says "Buddies" but I have a feeling a bit of mischief is about to happen.

I am finding this story of great interest, Larry. Odd that the two species will cohabitate as they seem to be doing. Also I don't think I've ever seen many raccoons out during the daylight hours...aren't they nocturnal?!! I'd love to see more and know more about this wildlife phenomenon. Just might Google it to see what comes up..ha. Wonderful photo of this little raccoon fella keeping his eyes on you at all times. The cat, however, could care less. ;0) Thanks! Julie
